Weatherproof Electric Actuator Selection for Marine and Port Pipelines
Industry Insight

In marine systems, port facilities, offshore-related equipment, and coastal industrial pipelines across Europe and North America, valve actuators often operate in humid, rainy, dusty, and temperature-changing environments. For valves installed on decks, pump rooms, outdoor pipe racks, or port equipment, actuator selection should not be based on torque alone. Enclosure protection, control type, installation environment, and valve compatibility should also be reviewed.

Selection Guide
1. Match the Protection Class to Moisture Exposure

Marine and port pipelines may face high humidity, rain, and outdoor exposure. The DCL weatherproof electric actuator is marked with standard IP67 protection. These values can support technical descriptions related to dust and water protection, but they should not be overstated as proof for all extreme marine environments. If the project involves continuous salt spray, corrosive media, or marine classification requirements, the project specification should be checked separately.

2. Select Torque According to Valve Size

Valve sizes vary widely in marine and port systems. Small water-line valves, ventilation valves, and larger butterfly valves may require different actuator torque levels. The DCL weatherproof series covers 16Nm to 3000Nm, supporting selection for different 0–90° quarter-turn valve applications.

3. Choose the Right Control Type

For simple remote open-close operation, an on-off actuator may be suitable. For valve status monitoring, a feedback type is more relevant. For flow, pressure, or opening control, buyers often search for a 4–20mA modulating electric actuator. The PDF shows that the modulating type supports 4–20mADC input/output, with a basic error of no more than ±1%, which is useful for valve positioning and process control descriptions.

DCL Series Product Introduction

DCL weatherproof electric actuators are designed for valve automation in outdoor, humid, and general industrial environments. The series includes on-off, feedback, modulating, and fail-safe configurations, and can be matched with ball valves, butterfly valves, and ventilation valves. For marine pipelines, port equipment, water treatment systems, HVAC installations, and outdoor pipe racks, DCL series related actuators can be selected according to enclosure protection, output torque, control signal, and installation conditions.
